On the field, the team did not disappoint as they finished their first season 4-12, a record for the most wins ever posted by an expansion team. The team improved steadily and the fans proved to be a huge support for the team. On many instances, it appeared that it was the encouragement of the fans that was egging the team to play even better and better. By 1997, the team had an 11-5 record and made the playoffs.
