This led to a tie-breaking playoff game at Forbes Field, which they lost at 21-0. However, the Steelers did qualify for the Playoff-Bowl in 1963 the second best team in the conference but was not considered as an official play-off. In 1970, following the American Football League and the National Football League merger, they were one of the three-old guard NFL teams to move to the newly formed American Conference along with Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Colts. The franchise have an amazing history of some of the most notable Hall of Fame holders. "Mean" Joe Greene in 1969, Terry Bradshaw and Mel Blount in 1970, Jack Ham in 1971, Franco Harris in 1972, finally, four such holders; Mike Webster, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, and Jack Lambert in 1974. The franchise is considered as the only team in NFL history that churned out four Hall of Fame stalwarts in one year. With such a strong and potential team, they made payoffs in eight seasons and became the only team in NFL history to win four Super Bowls in six years and the first one to win more than two. The three major rivals are considered to be Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals. Celebrating the organization's 75th anniversary, the franchise introduced a new mascot “Steely McBeam” on August 8th, 2007.
